Promotes the benefits of planned growth, responsible development, protection of open space, and strengthening of neighborhoods.

The Coopers Rock Foundation
Supports state approved projects at Coopers Rock State Forest, such as trail work, and heightens community awareness of the forest and its issues.

Downstream Alliance
This group is mostly inactive now, but they still distribute poster sized, colored-coded, stream quality maps of Preston and Monongalia Counties that resulted from monitoring projects conducted between 1994 - 2000. Farmers and Residents for Saving Monongalia County Farms (FARM)
Working towards the adoption of the USDA Farmland Protection Program for Monongalia County, which allows for purchase of easements on agricultural land to ensure that the land remains in agricultural use indefinitely.

Friends of Blackwater
Educates the public on the environmental threats currently besetting the Canyon. Works to protect West Virginia's scenic crown jewel from logging and condominium development.

Friends of Deckers Creek
Works to improve the natural qualities of, increase public concern for, and promote the enjoyment of the Deckers Creek watershed.

Friends of the Cheat
Works to restore, preserve, and promote the outstanding natural qualities of the Cheat River watershed.

Global Impact Environmental
Works to improve recycling, energy conservation, farm preservation, and other programs in Monongalia and other counties through online and offline education and activism.

Mon River Trails Conservancy
Works to develop and maintain the Mon River and Deckers Creek Trails for conservation and for pedestrian and cyclist use.

Mon Valley Clean Air Coalition
Works to educate the public about air quality issues, and to advocate for policies that improve air quality in Monongalia County and the surrounding region.

An umbrella group for the Mon Valley's environmental and recreation organizations.
Connecting people, parks, neighborhoods, historic sites, and natural areas.
The GSC provides the "Green News" a regular email of the local green activities in the Mon Valley.

Mountaineer Audubon Society
Works to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

West Virginia Botanic Garden
